www.SailBVI.US arranges sailing charters on a cost-sharing basis. We sail the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, and elsewhere on request. From the destination port, we proceed to island hop for one week or more.
The British Virgin Islands (Tortola) are considered one of the best cruising areas in the world. There are consistent trade winds, with warm temperatures year-round. The islands are numerous and always in sight, so it is just a few hours to sail from harbor to harbor. The process in the Mediterranean is similar. We also sail out of Newport, Rhode Island with stops at Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and Block Island.
Trips are based on bareboat charters, which means that we rent a boat from a charter company. We determine everything including destinations, provisioning and onshore activities. There is no hired crew. Cost includes a dinghy w/motor, hull insurance, tax, towels and linens. We have full independence and freedom about when and where to go and what to do. Crewmembers sleep on the boat for the entire excursion. We typically do one-week charters, but any length can be arranged.
The goal of our excursions is to have fun while honing our sailing skills. You are free to do much as you want during our trip, within the parameters set by the Skipper. Participate in sailing the boat, swim, snorkel or scuba dive.
